USNMix Report: Relief is not
available till 2020,
6 paise per minute will have to be paid for outgoing calling.
6 paise per minute will have to be paid for outgoing calling.
The Telecom Regulatory
Authority of India (TRAI) has dealt a major blow to the country's mobile
subscribers. TRAI has said in one of its orders that the fee of six paise per
minute on mobile calls made from one operator's network to another network will
continue for the next one year i.e. now this fee will have to be paid till
December 31, 2020. "The termination fee of six paise per minute on
wireless to wireless domestic calls will continue till December 31, 2020,"
TRAI said in a statement on Tuesday.
Earlier this fee was 14
paise per minute which was reduced to six paise per minute on October 1, 2017,
while it was said that before January 1, 2020, this fee will be abolished but
now TRAI has given it for a year. Has increased. In such a situation, a charge
of six paise per minute on wireless to wireless domestic calls is expected to
end by January 1, 2021.
At the same time, this
decision of TRAI has been welcomed by the Cellular Operators Association of
India (COAI). COAI Director General Rajan S. Matthew has said that TRAI's move
is in the right direction and is welcome. He said that COAI is always ready to
continue support from the government and the regulator to overcome the severe
financial stress in the telecom sector.
Big shock to live
This decision of TRAI has
given a big blow to Jio, because during the announcement of IUC fee, Jio said
that this fee is only for a few months, after that customers will get relief,
but now Jio will finish the IUC fee till 31 December 2020. Will not be able to.
In such a situation, Jio customers will now have to pay IUC charges for the
next one year, while Jio, Airtel and Vodafone-Idea customers will be able to
make unlimited calling.
