Vodafone and Bharti Airtel have lost almost 30 million subscribers in March. According to the data of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the number of subscribers of Vodafone Idea decreased by 1.45 million during the month, while Bharti Airtel's 1.51 million connections were reduced.

According to the data, the total number of mobile subscribers in the country till March 31, 2019 was 116.18 crores which is 2.18 crores less than the previous month. By the end of March, the total phone density in the country has come down to 90.11, which was 91.86 in February. According to TRAI, the number of mobile connections in Vodafone Idea was 39.48 crores as of March, 2019.

By the end of March, the number of mobile subscribers of Bharti Airtel stood at 32.51 crores, while its rival Reliance Jio had 30.67 crores of subscribers. According to TRAI, the total number of mobile subscribers in March was at 116.18 crore, which was 118.36 million by the end of February. In urban areas, the number of mobile subscribers was 65.04 crores till the end of March, which was 65.65 crores by the end of February. Similarly, the number of mobile subscribers in rural areas declined from 52.71 crore to 51.13 crore.
