know the reason.
Telecommunication Industry
Organization Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has asked the major
e-commerce companies to stop the sale of mobile signal boosters without Flipkart, Amazon India and Snapdeal without valid license. COAI said in a
letter to e-commerce companies that it is a punishable offense.
Companies like Airtel and
Vodafone COAI members include companies like Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and
Reliance Jio. COAI Director General Rajan S. Mathews said that different
e-commerce companies have sent different letters about this to the top
officials.
Strict regulations of
foreign investment
On the other hand,
e-commerce companies have created their new business association 'The e-commerce
Council of India' (TECI). This association includes e-commerce companies like
Snapdeal, Shopclues, UrbanClap and Shop 101. The move to create a business
association by e-commerce companies has been taken at a time when the
government has tightened the rules of foreign investment for e-commerce
companies.
Apart from this, a legal and
technology framework has been proposed to curb the flow of cross border data in
the draft National e-commerce policy. Apart from this, conditions have also
been set in the context of collecting sensitive data locally for companies or
collecting them overseas.
The statement released by
the new union said, "The country's fastest growing e-commerce sector has
made its trade union under the name of TECI. The founding members of this
trade union include Snapdeal, Shopkeepers, Urban Claps, Shop 101, Flyoob and
Find.
