The Indian government has decided to give Bharat Ratna to former President Pranab Mukherjee, Nanaji Deshmukh and composer Bhupen Hazarika. Nanaji Deshmukh and Bhupen Hazarik are being honored in the post-mortem.

The Indian government has decided to give Bharat Ratna to former President Pranab Mukherjee, Nanaji Deshmukh and composer Bhupen Hazarika. On the eve of the Republic Day, in a release issued from Rashtrapati Bhavan, it was said that Nanaji Deshmukh and Bhupen Hazarika will be honored posthumously. Former President Mukherjee was a senior Congress leader. He has held important positions in the UPA-I and II governments.

The PM said that he has served selflessly for many decades in the country and left a deep impression on the development of the country. Their knowledge and intellectualism are incomparable. It is very happy that he is being given Bharat Ratna. Tell us, Pranab Mukherjee has been India's 13th President from 2012 to 2017.

Nanaji Deshmukh associated with the Sangh was formerly associated with the Jana Sangh. After the formation of the Janata Party government in 1977, he did not accept the post of minister and continued to work for the expansion of various projects under the Deen Dayal Research Institute for life. The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government nominated him a member of the Rajya Sabha. During Vajpayee's tenure, the Indian government also gave him Padma Vibhushan for exemplary contribution in the field of education, health and rural Swamamban.

Bhupen Hazarika was related to the Northeast state of Assam. In addition to his native language Assamese, Bhupen Hazarika was singing songs in many other Indian languages including Hindi and Bengali. He sang 'Vaishnav Jan', the favorite hymn of Mahatma Gandhi in the film 'Gandhi to Hitler'. He was also honored with Padma Bhushan.
